Never in a million years did I believe I'd need to make an advocacy for this but I just wanted to show that this is the family you are tearing apart because of “budget cuts”. We work constantly whether it’s speech and debate OAP, thespians, musicals, etc. We spend countless hours on stage or in the black box but we do it because we love theatre not just us but so do our directors. To get rid of one is to get rid of both. Our company has won medal after medal trophy after trophy and has been to state or nationals more times then the football team you care for more. Not just theatre but band choir and orchestra have received perfect scores with our choir receiving UlL sweepstakes for 13 consecutive years along with band winning their class. Fine arts is a sacred space for people to express themselves freely and build skills you cannot get anywhere else. Many of us plan on pursuing anything within fine arts as our career path but since you want to start killing our programs we do not know what that’s going to look like years to come. To cut one director means that the idea of cutting more is a possibility and it shouldn’t ever be a thought. The possibility we might not even have a musical next year which is the only time for all of fine arts to create something beautiful together is devastating. In these photos show our production of disneys newsfes. To those that didn’t see it it’s about a bunch of young boys that were treated unfairly and went on strike for a change. If this is what we have to do for a change then so be it. We clearly aren’t as important as sports but we are still children who have the same dreams as anyone else and deserve to have a voice and be heard.
